Bwindi is steep, wet and dense, and the trek to find a habituated family can take twenty minutes or six hours. When you arrive, you get one hour with them.
Almost everyone describes it afterwards as the best hour of their life. We have stopped thinking that is an exaggeration.
When should I come?
The best months are shown on every destination card. In broad terms the dry seasons — January to February and June to October — are easiest, but the green season has fewer people, lower rates and better light.
How long do I need here?
Three nights is the minimum worth doing. Two nights means one full day, and travel days on either side.
Can I combine it with somewhere else?
