Red earth and space that does not end
Tsavo is vast — the two halves together are larger than Wales. Wildlife is more spread out than in the Mara, which some people find disappointing and others find the entire point.
The elephants here are famously red, from dusting themselves in the soil.
When should I come?
The best months are shown on every destination card. In broad terms the dry seasons — January to February and June to October — are easiest, but the green season has fewer people, lower rates and better light.
How long do I need here?
Three nights is the minimum worth doing. Two nights means one full day, and travel days on either side.
Can I combine it with somewhere else?
